If you’re paying in cash, tell the operator whether you want a 2½-Hour Ticket or a Day Pass, then insert coins and bills into the farebox (exact change only) and grab your ticket from the printer on your right.
On MAX: Before boarding, tap the green Hop reader at the MAX station using a phone with a mobile wallet, contactless credit/debit card, plastic Hop card, virtual Hop card or paper Hop ticket. There are no Hop readers or fareboxes on board MAX. The screen will show a confirmation that you paid your fare and you’ll hear an audible chime. Ticket machines at MAX stations accept credit/debit cards or cash. You can buy a ticket valid for either 2½ hours or all day, for Adult, Honored Citizen or Youth riders.

There are no Hop readers or fareboxes on board WES. The screen will show a confirmation that you paid your fare and you’ll hear an audible chime. Ticket machines at WES stations accept credit/debit cards only. You can buy a ticket valid for either 2½ hours or all day, for Adult, Honored Citizen or Youth riders.
Your fare is valid for 2½ hours, during which time you can board any combination of buses, MAX trains or Portland Streetcar to complete your trip. Remember to tap the Hop reader every time you board a bus or train (including when you transfer), as your tap is your proof of payment.
