The trimet.org homepage automatically shows the real-time locations for every bus and train on the map. These locations are approximate, and reflect the GPS position that was last reported by the vehicle. Generally, vehicle locations are updated every few seconds. Seeing your vehicle on the map can be extra helpful during winter weather conditions when arrival countdowns are unavailable. And sometimes it’s useful to identify when a vehicle you’re waiting for is “stuck” due to traffic, a freight train crossing or some other disruption.
Here are some more vehicle-location tips:
- On a desktop or laptop computer, you can hover over any vehicle icon to see the line and destination.
- Tap or click on any vehicle to see its upcoming stops and track its progress along its route.
- When viewing arrivals at a stop, you can tap or click on an arrival time to see where that vehicle is on the map and track its progress along its route.
- To turn off vehicle locations on the map, tap or click the “Map Settings” button in the lower-right corner of the screen, then tap or click the “Real-Time Vehicles” button (in the “Transit Routes +” section).
